Hey there!
Last week was a blast, we had some real mild temperatures and that made for some awesome training conditions! On Thanksgiving I went on a 9 mile trail run and it felt so great being out at Granite Beach running through the woods and getting in some good climbs as well. On Sunday I headed up to Auburn to do the same loop as last week and the weather was just about as perfect as you could get and I had an amazing day on the bike. I've been feeling healthy and am fired up to be a good month and a half into my base phase preparations for next season. Speaking of next year my coach (Jack) and I got together this morning for coffee and to hammer out the details and approach to the next couple months of training and we also went over my schedule through mid April. As soon as Xterra gets their '09 schedule posted I'll be able to plan out the rest of the season, from May on, and get my schedule posted.
Thanks for checking in!

Hello!
This past weekend was a blast, on Saturday I headed over to Folsom State Park in Granite Bay for a 7 mile trail run, the weather was perfect for running and the trails were in great shape! Yesterday I did a 70 mile loop in Auburn with one of the toughest climbs in the area up Iowa Hill Rd. with the main climb 1.75 miles long at an average grade of 13.5%, it was great being back up in the foothills riding again!
I've posted the Solvang travel report.
Thanks for stopping by!

Update 11/19
Hey there!
This past weekend I was down south for Solvang's Finest Century a ride benefiting CAF. We had perfect conditions over the weekend and if you didn't know it was November you would've thought it was early summer instead of the start of winter, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80's! On Saturday the field of 250 riders enjoyed picture perfect conditions for the 60 & 100 mile options. On Sunday the crew got a chance to hit the roads and while everyone else opted for a shorter route I was jonesing to get out to ride the century! I was planning on riding with another one of the volunteers but with the fires close by his home John wanted to get back to look after his family. I had a blast and the weather was perfect the whole day! Stay tuned for the ride/travel report.

Update 11/11
Hey there!
I've been having a lot of fun training over the past few weeks and heading
into the winter my coach and I have been keeping the training loads up so we
don't start the base phase of my training too soon, considering my first
priority race isn't until March 29th. There will be a lot of training races in
my area starting at the end of January so with a couple of months of base going
into those races it should really compliment what we'll have already done!
This past weekend I was down in Fairfax, CA. for the Cal Cycling Classic
mt. bike cross country race. It was a super fun course consisting of 95% single
track and very technical and with a light rain for the first two laps it made
the rocks and roots pretty slick. About 3 minutes into the race I found myself
taking some soil samples when my front tire hit something sending me straight
down on my side. After my crash I found myself in no man's land and just kept up
a consistent tempo to get through the constant rhythm changes that the course
was dishing up. With a lap and a half to go the rain had stopped and the course
was drying out quickly. I started reeling in riders and passed 5 guys on my way
to first place in my division and 4th overall! I am stoked to end my season on a
high note and considering I went into this race with no recovery and some high
intensity training days leading into it things went well.
Tomorrow I'm heading down to So Cal to volunteer for Solvang's Finest
Century a ride benefiting the Challenged Athletes Foundation.

Update 11/3
Hello!
Things are going well here and I've been getting in some great training the past few weeks and am feeling strong. I'm planning on doing a mountain bike race this weekend and then I'll be traveling south to volunteer for Solvang's Finest Century a ride to benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Even though my schedule is more for fun and helping out I'm stoked to be feeling so good heading into my base training for the '09 season!
I've posted my travel report from Kona, enjoy!

Update 10/20
Flew back from Kona last night and am stoked to be home! I had a great time catching up with my friends on the Big Island and in the industry and also got in some solid training last week after taking a break the week after Xterra Nat's. It's great to be home and to get back to work and to jump into my training in preparation for the '09 season!
The Xterra Nationals report is up!
